Glendora Ridge Road

Motorcycle riding on Glendora Ridge Road in Southern California. I had a girl on the back and it is my first time on this road in over 3 years when I shot this video … so I’m trying not to get ourselves killed. It is getting close to dark and I have a tinted windscreen to shoot through, but the JVC MiniDV works pretty well. I literally had the camera duct taped to the gas tank of my ‘92 ZX6 (the good ‘ole Ninja finally died the week after this vid) which gave a much more stable picture than with the professionally CNC’d camera mount I later bought for my ‘00 Superhawk. I also like how the video captures the top of the handlebars so how can see exactly how much (or how little) the bars move through a particular turn. Great road, great ride.

GRR is an …
GRR is an incredibly dangerous road even for the most experienced riders, due to it being a single lane for both directions of traffic and because of the steep cliffs that oncoming traffic can knock you off of to your sure death.
That said, I would explain all this to my passenger before taking her along.

Sad to say it was …
Sad to say it was due to mechanic error. Said mechanic being myself. I had a bit milled off of the head to increase compression (just for fun – I know it’s not worth it on such an old bike) and when I put it all back together, apparently I didn’t torque one of the nuts on the cam sprocket tight enough. A few thousand miles later it comes loose and when I take it apart to see what happened, I found it in the crankcase. *sigh* I miss the ‘ole ZX.

Very nice footage, …
Very nice footage, i go down that road often in my race prepped 300ZX Twin-Turbo, pretty crazy road to go down fast in a car let alone on a bike, gotta be careful. Alot of the sections dont even have a barrier remaining anymore, its strait off a cliff. I got a 1992 ZX-6 just like yours, its a great bike, mine is still running like a champ even though i beat her up.
What had happened to your ZX6 anyways? Engine sounded good and healthy in that video.
